a blue true dream of sky

Phinney Ridge Lutheran Church

The exuberance of spring and summer comes to life in the poetry of e.e. cummings’ “i thank You God,” and equally so in Gwyneth Walker’s setting of the same name. It informs our closing concert of the season—at turns both bursting with life and quietly meditating. Insects buzz around us, dewdrops kiss our feet, and we discover ourselves in blades of grass. But we’re also reminded of “the ocean-cradle of birth and of death,” and their “apparent seasons.” This closing concert will feature music by Ralph Vaughan Williams, Eriks Esenvalds, Jonathan Dove, and Edie Hill, among others.
